Internet Marketing

Marketing with Google AdWords and Google Analytics

Let's implement an internet marketing campaign that offers an excellent return on investment. The first thing I'll look at is the current web development infrastructure. By understanding the structure of the website directory tree, the layout of the database, the configuration of the servers, the software running on the web server, and how the content is implemented, I will be able to understand where and how to implement the organic side of the internet marketing campaign. The word organic applies to internet marketing that increases search engine ranking positions by implementing search engine optimization. After taking stock of the internet infrastructure, I will begin to optimize pages and directories for keywords that are relevant to the content of the website. If your software and website structure permits, I will develop a programming algorithm to implement the basic facets of organic search engine optimization programmatically. The goal here will be to ensure that the content of the website is quality reading material for users while being relevant for sets of keywords to search engines. After the search engine optimization has been implemented, we will create lists of words that the website does not cover and lists of words that are not to be associated with the website.

We will use Google AdWords to create advertisements for keywords that the website content was specifically not search engine optimized for. As an example we will use a bicycle website. Words that are italicized refer to keywords. There are a variety of reasons Google Trends shows that the word bike is significantly typed in more than the word bicycle. One reason the keyword bike is typed in more is because it applies to more than just bicycles. The website for this example will be search engine optimized for keyword varieties of bicycle. During this optimization, web pages search engine optimized for Giant bicycles will serve as landing pages for Mountain Bike keyword advertisements. Using placement targeting, Mountain Bike image advertisements would be placed on sports websites, outdoor recreation websites, and websites that are about the sport of mountain bike racing. Ensuring that sport bikes and brand names such as Kawasaki and Suzuki are added to a list of negative keywords will help ensure that the advertisements are displayed only to the target market.

The next step that will be taken is the setup and installation of Google Analytics. (This installation is actually the first step, but is better discussed here.) By pairing Google Analytics with Google AdWords, we will be able to understand how advertisements are performing in order to maximize the return on investment (ROI). For landing pages that show a higher bounce rate, modification to the content will be made to ensure that the potential customer is finding what they are looking when they click on the Google advertisements. In addition to the bounce rate, understanding the number of visits by geographic location, the average time potential customers spend on the site, and the percentage of new visitors to the site will help us to better tailor the content to the target audience. After the search engine optimization and paid advertisement goals have been met, we can even setup a social media marketing campaign if your budget permits.
